Controls for application and admission to postgraduate studies are issued by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research/Department of Research and Development. General controls include:
Documents required for submission
Graduation confirmation for the applicant, including the grade and sequence for the master’s and the general grade for the doctorate.
Nationality certificate, civil status ID, and other documents proving the applicant’s personal identity.
A written pledge by the applicant not to apply to any other university.
He pledged not to be an employee, and to ask the employee to provide the university with a no-objection confirmation from his department and to take full time in the event of his acceptance. An exception to this is those enrolled in higher education who are included in the university service for doctoral studies.
General conditions for application and acceptance
The applicant’s GPA for master’s studies must not be less than (65%) or he must have passed the first quarter of the bachelor’s degree. The applicant’s average for doctoral studies must not be less than (70%).
An employee applying for a master’s or doctoral degree is required to have actual job service for two years after obtaining his last degree.
The applicant must pass the interview conducted by the scientific department to determine his eligibility for study, and ensure his physical, mental and psychological well-being in a manner commensurate with the specialty he is applying for (passing the interview is considered a condition for acceptance, provided that no grade is assigned to it).
The applicant is required to participate in the admission examination and pass with a score of no less than (50%), and for all admission channels, with the exception of those applying for admission through the state employee admission channel in accordance with the memorandums of understanding.
The differentiation base rate for applicants for higher diploma and master’s studies is calculated according to the following equation: differentiation basis rate = average x 70% + entrance exam score x 30%. Provided that the average differentiation basis is not less than 65%, except for applicants through the employee acceptance channel in accordance with the memorandums of understanding. The acceptance rate for master’s studies by holders of a high diploma = 60% for a bachelor’s degree + 40% for a high diploma (provided that the high diploma is in the same specialty as the bachelor’s degree). The differentiation base rate for an applicant for doctoral study is calculated according to the following equation: differentiation base rate = the master’s general average (70%) + entrance examination score (30%)
