In the presence of the Assistant President of the University for Scientific Affairs, Professor Dr. Sattar Abdul Hassan Al-Fatlawi, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Arts, Professor Dr. Nabil Omran Musa Al-Khalidi, the College held a scientific workshop in the forum hall entitled (The Role of the Media in Combating Rumors). The workshop was moderated by Prof. Salem Juma Kazem, lectured by assistant teacher Amir Riyad Al Suwaidi
The workshop aimed to know the role of the media in confronting false and misleading news that helps to fragment and destroy the social fabric and cultivate fear by spreading baseless and incorrect rumors that are spread by unknown sources that have their own goals and objectives.
The workshop recommended staying away from unsourced and anonymous news and relying on news transmitted from official and responsible sources. It also recommended not helping to spread news and rumors that raise doubt and controversy and helping to reduce and weaken them.
