A lecturer at the College of Arts at Al-Qadisiyah University, Dr. Ahmed Saeed Yassin Al-Ghurairi, published a scientific research entitled (Climate change and its impact on the expansion of the phenomenon of sand dunes and desertification of agricultural lands in Iraq for the period 1984-2022 for the governorates of Al-Qadisiyah, Al-Muthanna and Dhi Qar) in Al-Israa Journal of Applied Sciences, which is a classified scientific journal. Within the Scopus database (Q3) issued by Al-Isra University in the State of Palestine
The research reached a number of recommendations, including that the most important reason for the increase in the phenomenon of sand dunes is a major result of climate change and the accompanying lack of rainfall in Iraq, in addition to the continuous rise in the average annual temperatures of the region. This can be observed by analyzing data for the region for different years for a period of about 3 decades.
